How Do You Fly This Thing?
The controls will be keyboard only. The player may navigate the ship up and down along the Y axis on screen using the up and down arrow keys and move on the X axis by using the right and left arrow keys. The player will also have the ability to use bombs with the space bar allowing the player to defeat the stationary/mobile land units on screen.
The Winning
Survive the enemies fire and avoid the buildings long enough to set the high score!
The Losing
By losing all lives through being shot or crashing, the player will have a shield of 100 that will gradually decrease in increments of 10 for each shot hitting the ship.
Sprinkles and Sparkles
The game will be space orientated and have a clear visual style. It will be simple and precise to prevent an over abundance of game characters or background objects distracting the player from the main play areas.
Heads Up Display (HUD)
The HUD will show the players:

Lives reserves
- Shield reserves

Score
- Current wave
Items in the game will include:
- Bomb upgrades
Jingles and Noises
The game will take on a retro styled theme in
accordance with the visuals. It will consist of royalty free samples compiled
together to create futuristic retro theme songs to coincide with the visual
style. Key events such as the ship being hit or tanks being hit will have seperate explosions noises associated with them.
The Trials
Enemies will consist of ground based units that
will be at the bottom of the screen firing towards the player in the air.
Players will be restricted in how low the can go to the enemies by the
environment because if the player collides with any of the landscape they will
die.
The player must judge whether to risk going into tighter gaps to drop the bomb on enemies. The enemies fire will also add a further challenge to avoid for the player as they will only be able to drop one bomb at a time.
The Rewards
The player will be allowed enough space in the level design to be able to destroy the majority of enemies contained in a level with their primary weapon though upgrades will allow larger bombs meaning larger splash damage.
This will make clearing enemies and taking risks pay off more and encourage the player to try clear the area quicker. The player has to survive against waves of enemies, the longer the survival the bigger the points and more points equals hall of fame glory!
